Cheesy Roll Ups

I’m pretty sure “cheesy roll-up” were my daughter’s first words. These were a staple for about a year in our toddler’s life. Simple and kid-friendly, they make a great snack for anytime!

INGREDIENTS

Tortillas (flour or corn)

Cheese

Turkey

Butter

Local honey

DIRECTIONS

Warm a griddle or skillet to low-medium heat.

Melt a teaspoon of butter on the griddle and place a tortilla directly on it to brown.

When the tortilla starts to bubble, flip it.

Place the turkey then cheese on the tortilla.

Allow the tortilla to begin to bubble again and the cheese to begin to melt.

Remove from heat and place on a plate.

Roll the tortilla and the meat up. The cheese will help the roll-up stick together.

Serve whole, or slice into pinwheels and top with honey!

COOKING TOGETHER

KIDS’ SOUS-CHEF DUTIES

The kids can do most of this as long as you’re comfortable with them working over a hot stove. They can add ingredients to the skillet and even flip the tortilla (that’s the fun part).

Bristol Mayo

Bristol Mayo is a husband, father, traveler, kitchen alchemist, first of his name, lord of the sauces, and loyal subject of Wakanda. He believes food is tied to memory for a reason—it’s not necessarily about skill, but the feeling it leaves in your heart and belly! Bristol does the cooking while his partner-in-crime Rachel—wife, mother, taste-tester, food photographer extraordinaire—takes the photos.
